I think the "Hon." (Honorable) title is partly rhetorical, mostly optimistic.

"Sle"(Sleazy)
"Cro" (Crook)
"Sel" (SelfServing) were rejected as too disrespectable.
"Who" (Whore) was briefly considered but because the money exchanged hands over a table and not a bed, was also thought to be disreputable and a little factually inaccurate.

Term limits would be real nice.

It never was intended to be a career, ladies and gentlemen.
Not until powermadness changed the gameplan.
