stI will be casting my vote for Barack Obama. There may be several reasons, but to boil it down and make it simple:
1. Obama's view of the nation and the world more closly resembles mine.
2. I'm banking on he won't be loading up his administration with recycled cronies of the past 30 years.
3. I'm voting for someone to run the country who I'm sure is smarter than me.
I think I've got Sarah Palin beat (along with 90% of the people contributing to this blog)......I'm guessing I could finish among the top 800 graduates even at the Naval Academy (ok, at least not 5th from the bottom)......I'm not sure about Biden so it might be a tossup there. That leaves Barack Obama.......he didn't get into college on some grandfather clause or political appointment, earned his way to graduating near the top of his class at Columbia and Harvard, editor of the Harvard Law Revue, taught consitutional law for 12 years right out of grad school before rising up the political ladder. I don't think my intellectual horsepower could match that.
Obama gets my vote. I don't necessarily need a President I could "sit down and have a beer with." I'm voting for brains this time, not blind ideology or someone who seems like an "average guy".
