New poll: Do polls affect your voting habits?

You can vote in the new poll, which asks, er, do polls affect your voting habits? Yeah, that does seem oddly recursive.

We always hear how Candidate X is up or down in the polls, and I wonder if that affects your voting. Anyway, it's a quick yes or no poll.

Remember, voting here is anonymous, but no spoilers, please!

To clear up your intent, which do you mean to ask here?

* Do polls ever affect your voting habits?
* Do polls typically affect your voting habits?

For example, if it were an essay question my response would be "Rarely. The only effect a poll may have on my voting habits is when unexpected poll results lead me to further research the majority opinion. Still, my vote would be swayed by the results of my research; not necessarily by the poll result itself.

I think you can answer to "ever" or "typically" -- just explain your choice if you need to in these comments.

So would you say that polls are useful to you when they surprise you and make you wonder if you're missing something? Or is that a step too far?

"Or is that a step too far?"

Nope, you pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Polls do not affect my vote in any way, shape or form. I do my research and vote for the candidate that I believe will do the best job. In the case of this years election, I will vote for the candidate who will; 1. Protect national security, and 2. Do the least harm to this great country.

What is lacking is a true conservative. That said, I know for whom I'll cast my vote.
