What do you now use all the time and can't live without?

What item do you now use all the time and wonder how you ever lived without it?

I'll start us off with two items:

Kitchen tongs. I remember when I finally started using kitchen tongs several years ago. Holy smokes! How did I ever live without 'em?

My cheap TomTom One GPS device. I don't need this often because I never go anywhere. On those few occasions that I do, however, this little device is fantastic piece of mind.

What's on your list?

My phone. I download my podcasts directly to its 2gb memory card and listen to them through my bluetooth headset. People think I'm simply a bluetooth geek when I'm actually listening to a 3-hour Rush program in an hour and a half.

Sorry to your sponsors, Rush--I love this gadget and the way it time-shifts my listening. Now I can listen at any time, pause, rewind, etc.

And I don't have to have any cords, any extra gadgets besides my phone, and it's very stealthy at work!

My 2 GB thumb drive, which basically serves as my second brain. If it's important, it's on my thumb drive.

Right after that comes my USB extension cable/card reader and my memory card adapters. I can adapt any memory card to SD, then put that in my card reader and get to work.

I'm gonna add another one -- my router at home upgraded to the Tomato open-source firmware.

It is rock-solid and fast. The special features are pretty nice and the darn thing cost me about $60 for the router and zero dollars for the firmware.

I have another one running DD-WRT (also open-source) at work and it is also awesome.

I second the GPS. It can be a real lifesaver when not familiar with an area.

My stainless steel smoker box for my Broil King grill. Fill it with hickory for pork and chicken. Mesquite for beef or seafood. It has brought my favorite and year round cooking pleasure to even greater um um good. How did I ever live without it?

Anonymous (c'mon register or start using the "name" button), do you have any good smoker recipes?
